Batteries
Batteries for the tape player seized from the camera and stuffed crudely into turned on and sound appears language transfer from the Korean phrases that would never have occurred to me now the natural expressions start to elude my mind. There's another. Who says things like that? Know my mind? Noone. Yesterday lunch with the President and other profs. Steak, shrimps, pumpkin soup, salad, a sliver of apple and minute piece of persimmon for dessert, talk about North Korea, Andre Lankov ever ready to lauch into a monologue on the subject but maybe the President, must check his name, seemed to start losing interest after initial contributions. Question - is it true that Canada and the US have the longest land border in the world? What about Chile/Argentina, Russia and some of its previous states? Must check this coz it seems a bit spurious to me. Came up actually I overheard it at lunch - the claim I mean. Another email to/from JW today re PhD candidacy. How can I decide without information about the program? Ridiculous. Kyunghee Uni or Macquarie? Well at least I can obtain information about the latter. Listening practice, an oasis of free time extending before me this evening and tomorrow morning, strangely unaccustomed to it as I have become, so old involvements once again become possible. Yesterday study again. Today what now new once for the black head of the grammar book saw him eating never can believe it how? Peace, light the fire, Woody. Hard to have free writing on akeyboard searching for the letters, keys I mean on the keyboard slows down the process, should have learned how to type properly of course, so many bloody jobs where I've used it and still pecking away with two fingers and the occasional pinky or another stray jumps in for a bit of action. I've got the 'T" it's okay. No me for the"l".

New news
At the wedding last weekend. I usually do nothing on the weekend. Prepare for 튼튼영어 on Sat morning, go there from 1 to 4 (used to be 12:30 ~ 4:30 - now one hour less and also, more importantly, 41,000 won less) stay home Sat night, go to Le Petite France Sunday from 2 - 5 for Jay et als presentation class - more work for me you see, prepare for Monday morning. hardly exciting stuff but it keeps the money coming in.Last weekend, however, no 튼튼영어 but KOTESOL conference and 태현 의 사촌's wedding. Here we are at the wedding hall in Samsung-dong.
I'll see if I can publish the short video I made in the taxi on the way home later.
Finally worked out how to make posts here. Then there was a problem because I had made two blogs. How thrilling. But fear not progress has been made, a small incremental step to learning how to use this.

짜증나 I mean, what the f...? I start a new part-time teaching job at SK. They give me a book to teach, I go in on the day I'm asked to work, conduct a lesson that seems successful - students are talking, it's relaxed, friendly. Next class only 5 students are there, we continue with the text, even enjoy some light humor, it seems good. Monday's class is cancelled then I get a call Tuesday to say they want a new teacher. Seems like my style is too much like a University class , yeah, we're actually learning something. But they are jealous of the other class who have a young woman teaching them. Ah, well I just can't compete. How did I slip through the net? there's a reason all those ads specify female only."
This after a gratifying day yesterday with good positive feedback from my Kookmin students who tell me they are enjoying my classes and teaching style. Then, this morning, after a mammoth effort preparing a thorough Powerpoint based class for the new 8 am group, that's right 8am (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for 4 weeks) that also seemed to go down well. About 30 students. Well you never can tell it seems appearances can be deceiving. Guess I'll have to wait and see about this one.
Problems with my ressurected ebay account, finding it blocked after three years of non-use - who has been using my account?? And sorting through the labyrinthine process of applying to do a course at Macquarie next year, the precursor to a PhD hopefully. Late in life but, better late than never I suppose.
